Hey guys I need a little help, I bought a truck that was hit pretty hard in front. I have changed the front timing gear plate which was damaged and had a locksmith make me a key so I could crank it over to see if everything I have done was correct. It won't crank, I tied the wires together for the clutch safety switch but still nothing. Is there a way to bypass the key switch like the old trucks and just short the solenoid with the key on to see if this thing might run? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, gunnie

Well the problem isn't no start, it will not turn over. Like the neutral safety switch or something else is preventing it from cranking, there must be a way to leave the key on with the clutch wires connected and get it to turn over. At least I would be able to see if it's time to start putting it back together. Some of our electronics gurus???

have you done the basics? Check that you have voltage to your starter positive? get someone else to turn the key and see if the signal from the solenoid is getting to the starter. I cant remember exactly how these starters are wired but im sure you could put a set off jumpers straight to the starter from the battery to. hopefully that crash didnt damage the block more then you think and bind the crank or a piston.

Advocate of getting the ban button used on him...
Are you getting any kind of click or is it just absolutely nothing?
I second the breaker bar first. Make sure you can turn it over by hand a time or two before you try to do it with the starter.
