Manual !
I had that happen to me one time as well. I did the alternate proc shown in the owners manual. I don't recall but it had to do with placing truck in neutral and then switching out of 4 low. You will have to read it

If I remember correctly, you have to come to a complete stop, shift your transmission into neutral, and then shift the transfer case into a different position. I can go from 2hi to 4hi at any speed, but 4lo requires a complete stop. There must be a speed sensor in the loop. I usually have my foot on the brake come to think of it. The electronic transfer shifters have been pretty reliable, and mine shifts very positively when I follow the procedure. Good luck.

The drive train "windes up" a lot more in 4 low and bindes. This more or less has always been the case, I always had a heck of a time getting out of 4 low on the '93 diesel It wasn't much of a problem when I was on slipery surfaces though.
If you have the time and don't feel like driving it to get it out, try jacking one of the front tires off the ground.... It's the hard way, I know.

Try reversing.
After putting it back into 4 HI from neutral, put it in reverse and back up 15 or 20 feet. I've had that work on jeeps. Then you should be able to get from 4 HI to 2 HI. You can also do it once shifted to 2 HI.

Like the man said, it winds up and binds. Try backing up a couple of feet to unwind the drive shafts. Works for me every time. More noticable in Lo range than Hi.
