All you are illustrating is Wix being more honest about their ratings.

Looking at the 33585XE spec page it now shows a beta ratio of 20/75=6/8.. That means its 95% efficient at 6 microns, and 98.7% efficient at 8 microns.. DOES NOT MEET OE SPEC!!!

If a person can't get the J1985 data from Wix how is that being more honest? Why will they not give out this info do they have something to hide? Why should I trust there filter if they will not tell me if there fuel filters even meets the J1985 spec?

WIX makes a decent product, I have used them many a time. Its just in this case they don't meet the OEM spec.. its hard to argue that.

I called Wix twice about the Wix fuel filter 33585XE
UPC Number:765809325852 and asked them if the Wix Fuel Filter 33585XE was a Fuel/Water Separator Element? All I could get out of them was that their fuel filter meets OEM Specs. I could not get I direct answer to my question. So I e-mailed Wix and asked the same question about the Wix 33585XE fuel filter and I never got a reply.
When I talked to Baldwin & Fleetguard both were more then happy to answer my questions.

Not to sure about you but that just didn't set real good with me about Wix. Not saying Wix isn't a good fuel filter and for gas engines they do real good. But with a diesel engine that as a fuel pump that produces 23,000 PSI. I'll go with the ones that has the up to date data and not afraid to share it.

Just remember, when calling or emailing customer service you may be talking to the low man on the totem pole who does not know how to find all the information on every filter out there. They may even been told to keep quiet about their product to avoid false verbal comments that could lead to litigation should someone take them to court. Very similar to calling in tech support for an American manufactured computer and getting tech support from an poor speaking English India[n] (No Racial Pun Intended) who makes it really hard to get any warranty work done on a 1 day old computer.

I do agree with everyone that we need to read the specs when choosing filters while under warranty, which is why we have MIL spec, ASTM (American Society of Testing and Material) standards, and SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) standards to refer to when choosing products. Thus making sure your filter meets or exceeds the manufactures requirements using such standards as J1985 by which both Dodge and Cummins state in their literature. Thus when using this information you are comparing apples to apples and not oranges to apples.

Not to dig up an older thread but WIX now has beta ratios on the 33585XE filter..

20um absolute, 6um at 87.5%... so back to what has been known for a while WIX does NOT meet OE spec.. .NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!

No matter what the cover looks like. It's the inside that counts!

Excellent thread discussion. So does this mean that the Mopar filters are better than the Wix?

Dual CAT Filters

I went with dual CAT set-up (1R-0750 into the bigger 1R-0749) in series. The CAT outperforms the Fleetguard FF5320. I also went with -10 AN line (5/8” diameter). I figured it is harder to drain a 5/8 hose than the factory 3/8. I would have gone with -12 AN (3/4") but I could not find a M12 X 1.5 to -12 AN adaptor for the CP3 and filter bowl. Anyone know where I can get one?
