Will Dodge hold togather?

Bought a 06 3500 ram in may.Begining to wonder if this truck will last as well as the180xxx mile super duty it replaced.Been to the dealer FIVE times. oil leaks, reflashes, leaking injection pump, poor a/c, and now my local tire guy tell me that upper and lower ball joints, BOTH SIDES are shot. This is BS! Yes the dealer will fix under 3/36. but the truck has 33000 now. Is this normal for Dodge?

Negative...NOT normal. I have had mine for 20k and have NEVER had a problem with it, other than when I tried to run Howe's Meaner Power Cleaner in it...my truck just didn't agree with it, so I stopped running it and all has been well ever since. And I am not stock...check out my sig. I'm not brutal to my truck, but don't drive it like grandpa either...the way I look at it is this...if I can be approx. 175hp/400t+/- over stock problem free, the problems that you are indicating sound VERY abnormal to me. I love a 7.3L Powerstroke engine, but I would put my truck up against one in every aspect...not bashing Ford...but that's just the way it is and I am sure that 99% of this forum would agree...

I can`t say what is normal because this 06 is my first dodge. I`ve always had fords. Anyway I`ve got 41000 on mine and never been back to the dealer with any problem. Maybe I got a good one or maybe you got a bad one.

those of you that have had no problems with your trucks are LUCKY, my '07 mega 5.9 with 4048.6 miles, there are no zeros missing, is at the dealer right now with a blown head gasket, and possiby more damage. i thought i was trading up from my '00 ford stroke, i am second guessing my desicion right now. dodge from how i am being treated, by the dealer and corp. offices, got my 50+k and ran like the cowards they are. i will not buy another ford and the chevy is out of the question, and i sure as h*ll will NEVER buy another dodge because the way i am being treated by them. BY THE WAY THE TRUCK IS BONE STOCK!!!!

Yea i said i would not buy a ford or chevy but bought a 2006 chevy dmax with 70 miles on it and that truck will flat out run and pull. I kept my 05 dodge to because of it being paid off and i guarantee this dmax will run with the doge and when i get the chip and exhaust and intake it will smoke my dodge. But my dodge is still my favorite.

I've never had any major trouble with mine in 45k. It does seem though that Cummins ships out A LOT of junk engines that have issues right from the start. From what it seems, if you have a junker it makes itself known pretty quickly so that's good in some respects.

All I can say is if I pay 50K and my truck won't make it to 5k without major issues then DC would come to dislike me real quick. The fact of the matter is that every manufacturer has issues these days. Even the new Toyota Tundras are having their share of problems. All you can do is cross your fingers when you write that check.

I like when stuff breaks on mine I than get the opportunity to get aftermarket equipment, I know that is a little obnoxious but I look at my truck a little different.

just like any of the big three truck, there are good ones and bad ones... and they're all made in mexico by someone making 500 peso's a week.... having owned all 3 of the big 3 (1985 cucv blazer diesel, 2004 ford f350, 2002 and now a 2005 dodge) my 1985 cucv blazer with the gutless 6.2 diesel is the most simple and therefore the most reliable. i think the dodge is less problematic than my ford was, but i also take it to a chrysler dealer instead of dodge dealer cuz dodge dealers suck!! at customer service... chrysler deals with a little different clientel (?), lil more upscale in my opinion, so they seem to be a little friendlier.

My 06 had 43000 when I traded for my 07 and no problems with either one. I have 15000 on my 07 now. This is my fifth dodge since 99 and the biggest problem I have had with any of them is a bad Tourque converter. That is why I still drive dodges. Oh and you can buy them for 6 to 8 thousand cheaper than a Ford or Chevy POS.

Don't know if it's normal, but I'd think not. I have 38,000 trouble free miles on mine.

Sorry to hear about yours
