Who's runnig B99 or B100? Any problems?

Hi All,

I am interesting in finding out how those running biodiesel are doing with the fuel.

I have been making my own for over a year, and have been very pleased in my old merc and my wifes TDI. Hows does the Cummins manage with a high percentage of Bio? I am looking to move up into a new oil burner, and the 2003/2004 Dodge/Cummins is my primary interest.

Thanks!

Bill

I've been running B100 for about 4 months now...No problem at all, just make sure you watch if the temps are supposed to drop, it gel's pretty quick.

The engine runs a lot smoother on the Bio, and it smells a lot better too. Power is the same by seat of the pants, infact, it ran the same 8th mile times consistently as with #2. It may feel a little slower because the noise is considerably smoother, but its got just as much HP as the #2 for all I'm doing. I plan on running Bio at the Strawberry Fields truck pull this weekend, probably be the only truck running on it at the whole place, can't really find it in NY here.

Several local fleets (local govt., trucking, delivery etc.) have been on B50 for a year with no problems. Most of them are getting ready to switch to B99 with a new bio plant set to open nearby and incentives coming into place for growers of canola, soy and sunflower. Grown, processed and bought locally, relatively speaking. Look forward to seeing how it turns out.

I'm on B20 myself with no problems and steadily improving mpg's during my truck's break-in period (at 10k miles now).

Ive ran 1 tank of b100, well probobly more like b80 buy time you take into account the fuel that was already in the tank. It ran a little smoother but not a much. I dident notice any diference in power or milage, so I was pleased with it. I would run it all the time but even here in the middle of the bean feilds its hard to find. A aquantance of mine owns a small gas station in a town abought 8 miles down the road and he sells B5 at the pumps but he blends it himself and has a bulk tank he keeps stocked wityh B100 at his bulk storage facility. I had to get him to go out there with me and fill my truck out the BIG bulk tank. Was kind of a pain so I havent done it again. I may have to start though as it was considerably cheaper than normal old #2.

I've been running between B50 and B99 for the last 51,000 miles. No issues at all minus the gook clogging my filter on the first tank (355 miles on the odometer). Just grab a new filter and go for it!
