White smoke and rough idle at startup.

The truck is back from the dealer. Has increased power, the mileage is a little better and it idles as smooth as it did when it drove off the lot. They wanted to bring the truck around to the front for me but I wanted to start it since it had been sitting all day to see for myself that it was fixed. No smoke and the idle is smooth. My baby's all better now.
Also, is there any noticeable "HACKING" in the engine bay?
I wonder how hard it is to actually replace those things. They look like they are easy to access.
Did the state what test they used to find out they were leaking???

So, they replaced TWO of the injectors. How long did it take them?

I've had 4 go bad, and need to replace the last two now. I can do one in less than two hours. If I have to do a dye test, it takes about 2 and a half hours. They are not that difficult.

If two go out, will the rest follow shortly thereafter?

Mine started up as smooth as can be this morning. I filled up at Flying J yesterday. I'm wondering if I just had some bad gas from the other place I've been using(?) I've got some fuel filters on the way too so, I may try to change it and see if I get some long term relief.

I added some stanedyne (spelling?) to my last 2 tanks, I haven't seen it since then. This isn't a fix, it's just buying me some time, no way I can let go of the truck right now. My guess is the fuel treatment helps the sticky injectors not stick for a while.

So. . .now 13K into my latest CTD. Just in the last few weeks I have noticed a slightly rough idel at first start. I carpool so the truck might sit for a day or so before I start. . .it has not been very cold lately but sure enough a slight amount of white and a slight rough idle. I have been using a little Lucas upper cyclinder lube now that I use more and more ULSD fuel. So. . .like many of you I also thought that maybe I had an injector that might be sticky, dirty, or? Because it seems to run fine as soon as I leave the house. I do get a long crank once and a while too.
The question is. . .Am I just waisting money to add the $20 injector cleaner before heading to the dealer?

When I had a sticky injector I used about 12 oz of Lucas and after driving it for 20 miles and I no longer had a sticky injector problem. I also noticed better mpg so I now use 4-5 oz at every fill up. But in my last tank I wanted to get rid of some old PS and 2 cycle oil I had mixed so I added 8 oz of that mix along with 4 oz of Lucas and 4 oz of MMO so I know for sure I have clean injectors from all of that mix I put in
BTW a qt of Lucas only cost about $8.00 so go get some and pour 16 oz to your tank even if its not full an run it on the Hwy @ 70-75 MPH for 20-30 miles and it should start to clean up your injectors. But if you can fill the tank add 16 oz of Lucas, add some weight (1000-2000 Lbs) in the bed and take it on a 4+ hour drive, this will heat them up and get them real clean.

DBLR. . .thanks for your thoughts. . . .just wanted to hear what I new to. So yepper. . .gave a good dose of the lucas last night but because I have been loffing on my commute I will need to get some real heat in the motor for a bit to get everything a little cleaner. . and as luck always goes. . .truck fired fine this am with no rough idle or any hint of white smoke. . I think the threat of a trip to dodge was all she needed to hear.

Mine still has some white smoke on the initial startup of the day. Rough idle is gone. I'm going to go through a bottle of Howes Meaner Power Cleaner (recommended dose) and that should clean it up, I hope. I'm consistently getting 18mpg highway now. Haven't had that kind of mileage in awhile. I'm going to have to quit babying this thing and drive like I stole it.

I've been getting longer than normal cranks lately, I have to crank it twice sometimes to get her to start (65-80 degrees) typically when it happens. She doesn't smoke but she'll have rough idle sometimes after the long cranks and the rough idle will last until well past full warm up and highway driving.
Example:
2 long cranks yesterday before she fired up at 5:00pm (80 degrees), rough idle, almost like a miss, no smoke noticeable...Drove highway to pick up wife at 5:20pm, she still had rough idle. It's almost like she's stumbling over herself, very pronounced shaking, I can see the steering wheel actually shake between a 1/4"-1/2" area.
I have no mods, I put in 6oz of PS or 4oz of Redline Diesel Fuel Catalyst per tank
This morning she started up fine.
