ive been having a argument emailing back and forth with a edge tech. he says reason why my 2004.5 has high egts with edge juice is because he said my 2004.5 has egr. i said just the 3rd stage injection event and the cat right? he said no. cat has nothing to do with it. he said and i quote

"The EGR is not the CAT, the EGR system is on the motor, and it just re circulates the exhaust gases back through the motor. The EGR system combines exhaust gasses with fresh air in an effort to reduce emissions. "

Where is my egr valve located on my engine? There has to be this valve because edge knows. I also told him i see 950-1000 egt on highway empty at 100 km/hour and he said thats normal or" in check" with what it should be. he also said when i pass vehicles on highway empty at 130 km/hour, that i should easily see 1500 F and that i cannot hurt piston because thats the temp of gases not piston.

EDGE person doesn't know anything

There is no EGR on the 5.9s that I'm aware off. Only on the 6.7s.

Something is weird because your EGTs are way high

Send the EDGE back to them to get fixed. Buy a Smarty and sell the EDGE.

Just my 2 cents.

 

Empty at 130 KM makes no sense with just a Juice. I would certainly not find that acceptable to have 1500* EGT at a steady state cruise of 130 KM!!

And the EGR's are on the 07.5 and up 6.7's. Your 04.5 does not have one.

 

check for boost leaks..... low boost will cause higher than normal EGT's

 

His engine is in pieces as he said he has a holed piston.

my egts while towing say 7000lbs, up a hill, never seem to go over 900 with my 66.i am never really pushing it, and i always turn down fueling boxes when towing.i usually sit around 750-800 egt on the highway doing about 70mph empty.

 

maybe turbo but i can hit 45 psi boost easily

 

we will see my numbers with my new engine
