Where is the current best place to get a rebuilt trans complete?

I have searched and either there is nothing new or I stink at searching.

Goerend does not sell complete units any longer and I did not see the typical "this place is best" threads. So...if a guy were to have a badly slipping 48RE with 155K miles and may tow 15K lbs. semi-frequently, where would you point him towards?
Thanks for any help.

I have used Jasper rebuilds and never had a problem with trans or engine rebuilds.

jasper tranny

I got a Jasper, matter of fact i got 3 Jasper trannies, and none worked right.
Total nightmare, my Expert mechanic, he is, swore by them and they, Jasper, tried, but none shifted right at all. So, got Mopar, 100k warranty. $4700.00.
Too much but after a year and half screwing with it...i could not take it any longer.

I got the green light from my wife to update a few things on my truck (cheaper than a new truck payment), so I'm looking at ATS for my trans.

I have an ATS. Make sure you upgrade the flywheel the factory one is to weak for the upgraded trans. if you go that route. 80,000 mi so far on the ATS still going strong.

Call Dave, he has shops all around that do the building for him. That way you can usually save on shipping.

You still get all the Goerend parts and updates, just not Dave personally building them.

Give firepunk diesel a try. Their website lists their different options and pricing. A couple of my coworkers had their transmissions upgraded there and they are super pleased with them.

Good for you glad you finally got your trans problem fixed. But the remans coming from Mexico I have never had any luck with. Yours may have been reman from Canada which are much better in quality control. I have been working for Chrysler over 30 years and have seen my fair share of trans problems in that time and Mopar transmission claims also.

I pulled the trigger on a BD Diesel Street and Tow transmission and just picked it up today from Zimmey's Diesel because they were pretty local to me. I have a buddy (ASE Master Tech at a Chrysler dealership) putting it in for me in a few weeks. I also did the torque convertor that goes with the trans.

Any feedback on BD Diesel that I need to be aware of?

I don't think there is a huge difference, the good thing is the seller is local and should be able to handle any problems without a bunch of drama.
