Yes napa sells the filter. I like using Valvoline in all my fluids. You will get mixed reviews on RP and Amsoil. Personally I don't waste my money on them. They are over priced for what they do. Get your self some good Vavleoline, Castrol, Mobil ect fluids and you will be more than fine.

I use the Valvoline ATF-4+ because it's a readily available, cheaper alternative to buying Mopar ATF-4+ from the dealer. When it comes to transmission fluid, quantity is better than quality. Don't buy a high priced transmission fluid because ideally you don't want to run it the length of time it would take for it to pay off. I use the Valvoline because I dump the fluid that's in the pan about every 20k (I credit "Texas CTD" for that method), change the filter each time, or maybe every other, and replace the fluid. At that rate, the fluid always stays fresh and clean, and you never have to worry about needing a full flush.

Check what Napa wants for the filter first before you buy it. Genos has Mopar filters for $18, and $29 if you want an extra gasket as well.

I also use Valvoline ATF+4® in each of the trucks listed in my signature. The 2001.5 has 164,000 on the original 47RE transmission, which remains strong and trouble free. I change the fluid at or around the 20k interval to keep the additive pack in the fluid fresh.

I have attached a link which may be helpful with making a decision.

How often are you changing your T-Case Drizz? I think I am due for both tranny and T-Case soon.

I change out the t-case fluid at the same time the transmission fluid gets done.

Mopar ATF is Valvoline, and you can get the Mopar ATF at Walmart for half what the dealer charges.

The transmission pan takes 6 quarts and the transfer case takes a little over 2 quarts.

Is it recomended to try and pump the rest of the tranny fluid out after draining pan by running truck breifly in neutral? (To get ALL 17 quarts of the fluid out)

I agree also, WalMart is best place to get the MOPAR ATF+4

I changed my fluid about 5k ago and used Pennzoil ATF+4 from NAPA. It was a $1 cheaper than Walmart and has been working fine. I also got the filter from them, but I can't remember what the price was. The gaskets that come with the filter are not even close to the quality of the stock piece. Pick up a drain plug to put in the pan for future changes.

Is there just a drain plug on the t-case and that's it. Haven't ever done mine and it has 60K. I only engage Hi 4 for a few mintes just to slosh around the oil in the gears.

I wouldn't, there's too much of a chance of running the thing out of fluid. Just change what's in the pan and leave it at that, it's close to about 6 - 7 qts.

It should be noted that the Mopar ATF-4+ is only sold at select Walmarts. I haven't even been unable to find it at any Walmart in the tri-county area. The Valvoline I found at Autozone.

Just so you know, people have had problems with not being able to get the fill plug loose, so make sure your able to open that up before you drain all the fluid, or your SOL.
