Hey all !! So I have this idea to buy a 6 speed manual truck and swap mine to the 6 speed and it to an auto. Then just sell the other truck. My question how old of a truck is compatable with my 05 4x4 ??? Thank you guys

And i dont want a new truck because i have to much work in mine..

i have a 2005 and some say our transmission is the only year that you can not lock out o/d.

my auto has t/h, but no 3 gear option on the shift lever.

on my old chevy 3/4 ton, i pull with it in 3 so it never shifted into o/d.

you can buy a DB 1031350 overdrive lockout disable for our model year.
would try that before changing truck trans.
goggle a DB 1031350 overdrive lockout disable for a 2005 dodge

An 03-07 will allow you to swap the transmisisons between them. There is no pysical differences that will preclude that.

The kicker will be getting the trans controls enabled in the donor truck.

With an 03 you might have to source the PCM and harness for trans control. Not sure if the manual trucks deleted that option or it had other uses. With the 04 and newer trucks the PCM is in the ECU and the it will need to be reflashed to get the trans controls functional.

Why no find the parts you need from a wrecking yard, and then just sell your old stuff, it would be eaiser then selling a truck with a transmission that does not match the vin.

Yes, but you will need to have the 4x4 OD unit put on it.

The 05' trucks are the first year with Drive by wire. The VB are different. 03-04.5 trucks have the kick down linkage which the 05 and above don't have.

But if I have the original tranny off my truck this is doable? I purchased an 05 transmission I haven't received yet to put on my 04. I hope this won't be an issue.

No problem, all the differences in the 48RE across the years are external. There is nothing internal that would cause an issue.

The one external issue you will have is the lack of mounting bosses for the TTVA. PATC has a bracket that remedies tha problem.
