what now?
my truck now has 216K miles
things I've done
-front ball joints
-ebc greenstuff brakes all around
-new power steering hoses
-change oil & coolant regular
things haven't done:
-change differential fluid
-change tranny fluid--(still looks brand new, must be synthetic?)
-change fuel filter--(stupid not to I guess)
On the fuel filter do I just drain, put in new one and restart?

Removing and refilling the gear oil is a simple process and the gaskets are reusable.

ATF+4 FLUID is synthetic; however, the looks are not a good indicator of the fluids condition.

REPLACE YOUR FUEL FILTER!!!!!!!!! Do it today. Do it now. Go to your nearest Cummins dealer and buy a Fleetguard filter, or go to a Dodge dealer and buy their rebranded filters. Do NOT wait for a shipment of Baldwin or Donaldson filters to arrive.
Replace the K&N filter with an Amsoil of AFE or AEM. Do a search for K&N air filters and you'll understand why. Just not worth the possibility to me.

Quick history, I bought truck with 192K miles from one owner who had it serviced at dealer religiously. He had fuel filter changed at recommended intervals but I haven't changed it since I bought it with 192K miles.

Got it...that's a little less worrisome! I'd still replace the filter as soon as possible and then at the next scheduled service have the Baldwin on-hand. I'd also suggest a change of differential lube as eventually it will get water contamination over time. 200K miles is a lot of use, and lube is cheap insurance...
