Drove from Alaska to Washinington in an early 04 3500
2wd dually, got an avg of 23.3 mpg doing 70-80mph. 4" flowmaster and an EdgeEZ. No trailer, just a snowmobile and 100gallons of fuel in the bed.

5 in the truck with a small amount of gear (Large Ice chest full, Large *Jeep* Hiking Stroller, Backpacks, etc.)

11.5k on the clock

This Sunday I did 220 miles, It included 30 miles through the Santa Cruz mountains, then 50 miles of Highway 1 (Coastal highway), the rest was normal highway driving between 68-72mph. I got 17.4 on the overhead which has been an average of 1.5 off in my favor, so I'm comfortable saying I got 18.5-18.9mpg on the trip.

Antioch to Loma Mar (Memorial Park) to Pescadero Beach to SF Zoo/Ocean Beach and then home for those familiar with the SF bay area.

but it was a 2wd dually
heck we pulled 4 horses to shows and averaged 15mpg and we show anywhere from 10 miles to 600 miles from home.

Driveing habits are #1 reason for good or bad mileage. Or the make up mpg factor for those that get 20+ all the time. Sorry about jumping your case. After all the trucks I've had and many others I've had direct contact with and not one of them claimed 20mpg. I've even had a chance to verify some that claimed exceptional and they never stood up to the claimed mpg.

I should add that my MPG went up when I drop from 72mph to 68mph...So for those that claim 72 is the sweet spot, I think it must differ for each truck.

my driving habbits have not changed between trucks ( I don't think)
I know 4wd will eat up some of it but I hate driving 62 mph o the interstate
if you are near Atlanta you will get your self shot or run over!

i do not have an auto, but i'd guess what most are saying.. around 14-15 town empty.. up to 19 or so on the highway empty. Remember if you're running winter fuel, your mileage will drop around 1-2 mpg's.. that it what i've observed on my 04.5 anyways

I do run PS/MMO every tank. Seems to run smoother, not sure it really helped my mileage any.
Second. I regularly get 18+, with a fair amount of highway and speeds under 75.
