I thought I had read somewhere that the first valve adjustment was done at approx 175K. I am getting a valve cover leak fixed tomorow at the dealer under warranty and the service guy said he thought the valves need adjusting at around 60 K at a cost of $200. He said he didnt have the book in front of him to be sure but I want to know. TIA

150,000 miles. Ive done them then too and they havent been out of spec.

What would be the signs if they were out of spec? is there any harm in checking them? (other than the $200 which seams high) thanks

$200 seems like it would be right if you took it in, but not at 60K. Read the owners manual, it clearly statses 150K for valve lash adjustment. Mine were in spec when I did them so I'm going to check them again in another 100K.
