What do you guies think? 05 With 12 Valve

I found a 05 extended cab 4x4 6 spd dually 36,000 with no engine, fly, clutch,turbo,or inj pump, rest is all there. Think its a good deal for 9999.95

Im thinking about a 97 12 a friend has the engine. Im just tring to get other ppls opinion? Thanks

might be hard to get it registered to be legal on the road

Too much electricle crap on a 05 to work on the old 12 valve. Not cheap at 10k with no motor . Probably never get it really right . You need a motor out of a 05. If you got it right then youed have what 15-18k involved . Money like that will buy you a good truck to start with.

The truck you are describing is in the latest issue of Diesel Power. No reason it wouldnt work.

The engine has to be the same year or newer than the vehicle it is going into here in PA.

I've seen dozens of 05's go for $15k and less. Go on EBay and look at high mileage trucks. 12V would be way too much money in retros.

If you can figure out the gauges, and keep it almost stock, it'd be cool. 12 valve will run forever, and run on anything. No injector problems or injection pump problems. But if you wanna make big power, plan on spending big bucks, it's not cheap. But I guess it's not cheep on the new ones either.

I had a regular cab 12 valve in the high 11s, it wasn't as easy to get there as you would think.
