Wearing tires, dually conversion?

Im going through a rediculous amount of tires towing heavy. What I'm wondering is what you fine people think of a dually shortbed. I'd probably use megacab fender flares and a complete new axle for the back. Anyone here own a shorbed dually? How do you like it? Should I do a flatbed and a 4.10 swap at the same time?

Just tossing some ideas around.

The value equation isn't in your favor to do that. You will wear out the truck before you make you money back on tire savings and even then I am not sure you would ever make it back. Try a different brand and see if they last longer.

So far, on this truck, I've had Michelins, Toyos, Micky Thompsons, and now Nitto. I'll probably end up with a set of M55's as my next tire. We'll see how they fare. Honestly I think I just want a shortbed dually.

What sort of mileage are you getting out of your tires?

id love to do the same to mine. but for what it would cost me it might be easier to just trade for a dualie.....unless you got to have the short bed.

Dodge does make most of there mega cab dually's short bed but they did have the option of a long bed(don't know if they still do). Ford made some short bed dually's but they looked just plain weird in my opinion looked crammed together.

Mega's are shortbeds. If you want a longbed you have to go custom for it. There's companies that do longbed mega conversions. Would be a REALLY long ***** though...

A buddy converted his truck. If you are going to keep it forever, that might make sense.

When I started kicking around getting a big 5th wheel that would put my SRW 3500 over its rear axle rating by a considerable amount, I ended up selling that one (03 Laramie) and I picked up a used 06 Laramie dually.

Selling yours and buying a dually might come out better $$$ wise if you tend to keep a truck 5 years or so...

That's a good looking truck.

I bought this set of Nittos six months ago and they are 50% gone. I have high hopes for the m55's. What can I expect to pay for a junk yard axle? Way too much blood and tears in this one to sell it.
