Water in transfercase interface with tranmission

Water in transfercase interface with tranmission
Lloyd had a hard time getting my transfer case apart off of the transmission. He said once he did the cavity looked to have water accumulated in there. It rusted up the transfer case seal so that need to be replaced.
Possibly from me plowing snow?
Anybody see this before?
