To make this a short story.
My windshield wipers went out. Went to John at DPS in Van Nuys, great guy, honest, and very resonable. He tests it out and says it's the Power Distribution Unit, and says to take it to Dodge and try and get something from them because my warranty just expired 6,000 miles ago.
They test it, new motor ($380 bucks by the way) doesn't fix it, and I don't have to pay for that, but as John said it's the PDU.
So there you have it, electronics make their life easier for them, but make the customer poorer...

So, you are talking about the 36K warranty expiring? or, did you have the extended warranty?
Since this goes to SAFETY - it might actually be something that you could FORCE having repaired.
Automobile safety standards do not allow manufacturers to end their responsibilities at warranty markers. Things that relate to safety have special consideration points that if found to fall short of the standards can and will make the manufacturer have to RECALL and repair at their expense.
If I were you, I would seek the advice of my State Attorney Generals Office regarding this SAFETY issue. In fact, I would suggest that any and all people who appear to have issues with their wiper system all get together on this issue.
I am not familiar with WHERE you go to report this stuff to the feds, maybe someone here does know and will post the site, but a place exists for you to formally file a complaint about this. If enough people file complaints, an investigation will ensue and it may well be that a SAFETY RECALL will take place and fix this for everyone.
on edit - If I were you, I would also let both my dealership and Dodge know in writing that you will be taking this to the FEDS and filing a formal complaint. It might serve to get your vehicle repaired immediately in their attempt to avoid having some kind of an investigation take place. By using a written means you will then 'time stamp' your complaint, you can have an attorney write a letter to them, the attorneys cost for letters like this are very inexpensive and well worth you time taking the step in a formal manner, then follow through with your complaint to the feds. Again, if everyone with problems follows this procedure, it will serve as a basis to make Dodge/Fiat comply. Safety goes beyond the bankruptsy, it becomes inherent in the buyout and a continued responsibility.
