Waiting on Chrysler's next move
I have had a steering gear box on order since mid Nov. nation wide back order supposed to be in 1/10/11 called thurs (1/13) back order date changed to 1/31/11. Thursday night leaving a buddies house backing out of the drive way "snap" the shaft coming out the bottom that connects to the pitman arm is sheared off, dealer brought out wrecker and now I am waiting to see what they do..... and before it is said no I haven't abused my truck. Has anyone else heared of this type of breakage before.

Or get a replacement box from Napa, only $150 + tax. Can't be any worse than the OEM boxes....that the dealer wants 2-3x as much for.
Or go aftermarket, like Redhead, and be done with it.
FYI, Napa lists the 3rd Gen boxes for gassers only, but thru some research, they're the same for diesels (probably why they're weak under the add'l weight). Have had a Napa box on mine for about 6mo now with no problems.

Are they putting in on, or are you? If you are, I would buy a Redhead and install it, and when the warranty piece comes in, sell it and recoup some of your money. Won't matter if they are installing it, but if you are, might as well get a better box on there.

Waiting on chrysler... Good luck
I wish you the best waiting on chrysler. I'm still waiting on them 8 month's later, for a possible buy back on a hunk of crap that spends majority of its time in the shop. Pretty sad customer service if you ask me or maybe others also.
