Wait to Start Light

Question:

My wait to start light no longer comes on during the bulb check cycle when the key is first turned, and it used to.

This happen to anyone else?

Per the owner's manual, the light comes on during the bulb check procedure, which is performed every time you turn the key. If the manifold air temperature is below a certain temp, around 66 deg, I think, then the heaters come on and the light stays on. Otherwise, it goes off.

My question is, the light does not come on during the bulb check procedure and it used to. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this on their truck?

Regardless of ambient temp, mine comes on and stays on for a second or two. (longer when cold obviously). I can hear the relay cycle too.

I can only speak for the 06s. The wait to start light will NOT come on if temps are warm. I don't want to say what temp it should come on because it seems some are more sensitive then others. Mine will not come on til around 50 degrees. That was when I first got it in Jan (live in FL). Ever since, the light does not come on at all, not even during bulb check. Called dealer awhile back and they confirmed that the 06 wait to start light will not come on at all unless the heater is required.

Thanks for the input. Now it's really confusing because what your dealer told you is in direct conflict with the owner's manual, which plainly states the light will come on during bulb check. I've got a call in to my dealer to see what he says. By the way, mine is an 06 also.

I wouldn't think so, the truck is only 3 months old.

If you have an 06 like I do, you are not crazy. The light does not come on when it is warm outside. When you first cycle the ignition to the on position and the dash lights do a bulb check the wait to start light does not come on period. I also thought I had a prob w/ mine, but we recently had a cold front come thru North Ga and the last couple of cool mornings the wait to start light has come on. I think this is only for 06 MY.

Just picked my 06 up yesterday and it was 38 degrees....NO WAIT TO START light for me either!!! Dealer said if the truck will turn over once or twice more than a second gen for this reason! But i Can sure tell it comes on while its running!! Classic voltmeter dropping to about 11 volts.

I have a brand new (3 days old, 355miles) 2006 CTD Mega Cab 4x4. The "wait to start" light has not come on on my truck yet. The coldest it's been though is about 50* It is true, the manual does specifically say that the light should come on during the bulb check, but mine DOES NOT. I was starting to check fuses when I decided to check this forum...You saved me time and a phone call to the dealer already! Thanks

I have never seen the wait light in my truck! Had to look in owners manual to even find what it looks like and where at!
