Valve Cover Leak

Hello all,

I have a mild valve cover leak around the last two cylinders that are closest to the cab. I washed most of the oil off with simple green. You can still tell very easily there was a leak. It hasn't leaked since and that's been about 10 days ago.

I have an appointment with my dealer on Tuesday the 5th at 5pm.

Should I keep the appointment b/c it's under warrenty, or let it go until it leaks again.

My feeling is let them look at it.

thanks Jamie

Keep the appointment. It's warranty so it may as well get fixed. Hopefully they won't raise a stink about it being cleaned.

Had the same issue on mine. I was a little worried because I had sanded down and painted the plastic cover that goes over the valve cover and everything... But much to my surprise, they didn't even mention it and replaced the gasket under warranty.

you could remove that plastic cover and they can't say anything about it for warrenty.. it is just a cosmetic piece... that would be like them trying to deny you warrenty cause you lost a hubcap

Well, they gave me die and told me not to wash off any more oil when it happens again. Also said it's very common.??? I asked, for an almost two year old truck????? The mechanic went ahead and ordered the gasket. And said if it leaks again he'll have it in stock. Also said those things are reusable, like the tranny and differential gaskets.

They leak is between the aluminum rocker cover and the cast iron cyc head. The valve cover is removable and has a rubber o-ring seal. Mine leaks worse in the colder weather. After opening the valve cover and inspecting the situation..... I decided to let mine leak alittle and wipe off at oil changes. That rocker cover has all the injector harness wires running thru it. Thats a accident waiting to happen with a Tech that 1/2 ***'s the JOB. It isn't hurt'n anything by weaping some oil, hell it keeps it from rusting!

A little seepage is normal. Engines do need to be rinsed off periodically.
