Valair clutch review

Clutch review:

I wanted to give my review of the new clutch that I have in my truck. It’s the ceramic valair. At first this clutch engaged real close to the floor and was grabby. After 1000 miles it engages almost like stock with stock like pedal pressure. I had some problems at first with the clutch not disengaging I guess I got some air in the hydraulics. I would have to prime the clutch pedal until it built pressure before I started driving. As far as holding power it is great…with the tst on 6/6 and ez on 3 it doesn’t back down at all. The truck takes of like a rocket. One complaint that I have on the clutch is that it is very loud with my foot off the pedal and in neutral it chatters. I talked to Dan about this and he said for this clutch this is normal and that he has a newer version of this clutch that is more quiet…oh well.

Overall I really like this clutch and would do it again. Dan is a good guy to deal with. With the money I saved I am going to order the GDP walbro kit any questions holla!

The clutch hydraulics on these trucks has no bleeder valve, at least in the case of the '05 I worked on. I had a similar situation where I did a rear main seal on that truck, and the clutch started slipping after we put it all back together. (Yeah yeah, that would have been the time to put a new clutch in, but the owner didn't want to) Just for the hell of it I loosened the hydraulic reservoir cap. I tightened it right back down...and the slippage was gone. Apparently some air had gotten trapped under the cap somehow.

I'm going to ask a stupid question. Does the cap unscrew or do you pry it off?
