I just did my oil change and it has 5,000 since last change. I checked the dipstick on level before doing the change and it was down a quart. It wat full last time I changed it. I have about 53,000 miles on this 06 and see no leaks at all. Any one else use any oil? I just sent in an analysis, not sure if that will reveal anything.

 

You sure the oil pan isn't wet? Either that or it's getting passed the rings, which you would see comming out of the exhaust.

I've got 6k on my oil now and my truck has 90k on it, dosn't burn anything.

Only other thing to take into consideration is, when filling it up after the oil change did you add the proper amount?

 

Do you tow heavy??? I have noticed on my 07 5.9 that I use about half a quart in between changes as well. Make sure you are very level when you ck the oil, it is very pickey these days. Sometimes our engines can also HOLD a quart of oil someplace...

 

Yea I know fore sure that nothing external is wet, and I have done a ton of oil changes, I do not notice one bit of oil brning from the tail pipe either.
I will have to just keep an eye on it.

 

I wouldn't worry too much.Mine used about the same.1/2 quart per 5000 miles.

 

Check it before the first start in the AM.

 

206K on mine and it's nearing 10K on this oil change. It's not even used a 1/3 of a quart.
