Update On My Cooper Tire Problem

Well i found out tonight that i probably have two bad brand-new cooper ATR tires. Well my truck started getting a bad vibration in it tonight. So i went to wal-mart wear i used to work at and had my friend check out the balance on the tires. I had the coopers (cant spell) balanced with all the weight on the inside of the wheel. Well the left front took 3.50 ounces to balance. the right front took 4.00 ounces to balance. here is wear it gets bad the left rear tire took 10.0 ounces to balance and the right rear took 9.00 ounces to balance. so do you guys think that might be whats making my truck wandered all over the road?? I mean the truck drives fine in a straight line. It just feels like you are driving with to flat tires on the back. If you turn the wheel back and forth real fast. So looks like i am not going to be driveing my truck any more until i get my tires fixed. I might see if i can change to a toyo open country at tire.who all makes a load range E tire in a 285/70/17 LT.Forgot to say that i did get rid of the vibration i had. Thanks Bobby

Ive heard the Cooper ATRs are wiggly til they get a few miles on them. I have the 286/75r16 ATRs on my Ram,and they are not wiggly at all. They are a very nice tire. They are on 2 yrs this month, and are wearing much better than the At's I had before.

I wouldn't have left the shop with those tires if they took that much weight to balance.

Like was mentioned, spin them 180 and try again. If that don't work try a couple different tires.

Hi the rims are in good shape. I traded my eagle 186 wheels for these wheels. they were off of a 07 CTD. allso i watched my friend blance all my wheels so i could look for a bent rim. But thanks for the help. mopar72

What kind of tire pressure are you running? I have a dually and when I left the shop the last time I had tires put on, I thought I was gonna lose control all the way home, but when I got home and checked, I found that they had put 85 psi in all my rear tires.

I checked them and at frist the place i got the tires from only had 50 psi in them. When i got them reblanced today i had them put 65 psi in them.that helped to get some of the rear sway out but not much.well at least i got the vibration out of them. I think if it does not cost to much more i am going to try a set of the toyo open country at tires.thanks mopar72

I'm having good luck with Nitto Terra Grapplers in 285. Quiet and smooth. I ran PJ Dirtgripz before and it felt like what you're describing. Very harsh ride and noisy as heck.

Nitto is the only one who makes that size in an E load range that I have been able to find.
