I've had some good luck with Howe's Diesel Treat (not meaner kleaner) and 2stroke. I'm gonna try 6oz 2stroke and 8oz Howe's this weekend when I go to the mountains. That should make the motor nice and quiet.

I don't know where it's coming from that 2 stroke is going to increase mileage. All it does is help lube the fuel system and injectors. I use it at 200:1 and it definitely makes the truck quieter.

It has increased mine in the .25-.5 MPG range (hand calc). Same driving style, same program...try to be as fair as possible.

Don't recall anyone listing the BTU's of it but I do know that the flash point varies from 180 to well over 300 degrees.

Two Stroke oil would class as a #4 or #5 fuel oil. Not likely to find a specific listing just as you will not find one for ATF or motor oil.

Expect about 140,000 to 145,000 BTU gallon for all of the above oils.

I read through a ton of posts in various forums about the 2 stroke oil and decided to try it myself.

I filled the tank up, dumped a litre of the Walmart 2 stroke and I'm about 300km into it.

So far I've noticed that the truck does run quieter and it seems a little more responsive off the line.

Mileage is a little worse, but not going to be sure until I'm through with the tank.

At my local Walmart it's $4/L for the stuff, so it's not exactly cheap compared to $10 for the white Power Service bottle that I get 3 tanks out of...but I've been "hearing" bad things about the PS stuff (whole 'nother topic)

From the stuff I've read synthetic is not recommended. The regular Dino oil works best, just make sure it's ashless. I think all PWC 2 stroke oil is ashless.

Another thing is noticed after doing all that reading is when people use the 128:1 ratio that's typically for the 2nd gen.

I think I'll back off to 200:1 on my next tank.

one of the biggest Cummins dealers in Canada is right up the street from me, I've been thinking of going out there with a box of Donuts around break time and see what the seasoned mechanics think about running the 2 stroke.

I bet that is the exact answer you would get at a Cummins dealer.

A little off topic here but in the same ball park. I attended a get together last weekend and a very well know diesel truck drag racing guy was there. He didn't have his race truck with him, he had his daily driver with him. It was a ragged out 12V 2nd gen. He was running it on waste engine oil only, NO DIESEL at all in the tank. It blue smoked just sitting there idling. He had the pump turned all the way DOWN on it. There was a dyno there and he put it on the rollers. It made 109hp and about 300 ftlbs. I asked him how he got out of the race truck and drove that thing home. He said, and I quote "it's free".

I've been running the Super-Tech 2-stroke for a few tanks now at 16oz per tank. It has quieted the engine down a bit, but I haven't seen any gain in mileage...

I am currently runnin the Lucas injector cleaner stuff supposed to help with mpg etc, etc, anyway I have not run the whole tank yet and I am at a 1/4 tank and have gone 220 miles. With the 2 stroke I was at 290 miles. So far it looks like I at least have seen a mpg gain when using the 2 stroke. But will have to wait and see till this tank is gone.

running two stroke here, does quiet it down quite a bit and exhaust also smells different but not sure on mileage gains. if anything i like it because it lubricates.

It sounded fairly normal, maybe a tad quieter. Don't forget the 12V are not as noisy as the 24v engines.

I think my 24v is a lot quieter than any 12v that I ever heard.
