Two Codes and Warranty work

Today my check engine light came on so I checked the codes and got P0514 Battery Temperature Sensor Performance / Rationality and P0480 Cooling Fan 1 Control Circuit/Open (Low Speed Fan Relay).

The 0480 has been there awhile with no check engine light the other is new. Can anyone tell me the meaning/importance of these? Also my 2004 has less than 30K miles on it so it is still under full warranty. Should any diagnostic work and fix be covered to turn this engine light off and fix/reset these codes?

Thanks guys, this is my first possible issue with this truck in the 6 months that I have owned it and want to be as prepared as possible. I am going to a different dealer and starting fresh with a new service department.

Thanks again,

Hondo

Had the Cooling Fan code one time, about 4 months ago.

Dealer of course couldn't find anything wrong, and I've never had a cooling problem, or the code ever come back....

As for the Battery Code......its like a virus going around, it seems like its popping up more often. There is a TSB out for it if I remember correctly.

i was at the dealer yesterday for a p0107 and p0483... no parts in stock then [i think they called today and parts are in] but the p0107 is just the map sensor [low level open circuit], but the p0483 is for cooling fan rationality error or something like that, and they ordered me a new fan clutch assembly... i've never had problems with that or noticed anything wrong with the fan, but oh well... warrenty is great eh... i need to swing by there and re book a time to have the work done... [map will take like 10min, but i don't know how long the cooling fan clutch assembly will take]

here is a link to a website that lists OBDII codes...

The engine doesn't use the fan very often, unless very hot out and heavy loads. The fan is used alot for cooling the AC compressor and drawing air through the condensor.

MAP is manifold air pressure which is boost pressure. I think you mean AAP (ambient air pressure). P0107 is ambient air pressure low (open circuit), which will cause a check engine light to come on and an altitude derate to happen, because the engine doesn't know if you are at sea level or 12000 ft and assumes the worst to save the turbo from overspeeding.

I had both these codes 0480 and 0514 come up today... Everything seems normal. Only thing I can think of is I ran through some unbelieveable Tstorms yesterday, and went through some really deep puddles at speed... I think something just got wet... We will see...

Anyone know how to do a reset ?

Very common codes. The 0480 will come up on a cold night. The fan only will trigger every time I put my snow plow on.

Sawboywv1,
Are you using a scan tool to obtain these codes or maybe thru the service engine light like the older Chevrolet OBII?
