First thing you should do is get some gauges to watch your fuel pressure and EGT's.
Most people would get a programmer before they changed injectors, you'll be amazed what a Bully Dog or Smarty will give you.

You know, you have actually brought up a REAL GOOD QUESTION.
Since everything on our trucks IS computer controlled, WHY couldn't the fuel pressure be turned up via programming ?? I bet it already IS controlled via some kind of programming.
Get a Smarty, you will be suprised by what it will offer you in choices before going to physical mods.

Chead, can you explain your need for smoke?
Get a programmer, crank it up and lug the engine, you'll smoke out the place.

I think the OP is confused and is wanting to know about the injector pump, turning up the lift pump wont do anything for power(unless your not getting enough fuel to the injector pump). FWIW the factory lift pump is capable of delivering more fuel, if you get rid of the factory pressure regulator and add an adjustable bypass regulator after the fuel filter. Mine has been running at 12psi WOT for over 40kmiles with no problems, with the factory regulator it would go down to 0 at WOT. Didnt do anything for power but I didnt want the CP3 cavitating either.

The point being missed here is that it does not matter at all what pressure the transfer pump gives. All that matters is that it gets fuel the back of the injector pump. There is an actuator on the back of the injector pump called the fuel control actuator. It is was controls the rail pressure, not the transfer pump.
