Turn Rotors?

Do you have to turn the rotors for new pads? No vibration upon braking. This will be the third pair of pads on the front rotors and never turned. Rears will be the first time replaced. Thanks All.

I've replaced my front pads twice now and have 210,000 miles on the clock. I've had them smoking in the mountains at least once.

They still stop smooth and don't show any surface cracking or warping. So I did not turn them and it's fine.

I say run them as they are.

Depends. If you're switching to a differant pad material, then they need to be resurfaced. You can use a 120 grit sanding disc in a drill motor for this. If you're using the same kind of pads, and the rotors are in good shape, there's no need to cut or resurface them.

As .boB said.
You seem to be changing pads a lot. I have over 120k on my truck and the rears are about half worn. The fronts have been changed only once and that was at about the 100k mark. Did not touch the rotors at that time.

The grooves that get worn into the rotor just add to the surface area, so after the new pads wear in, maybe you will have better brakes?
