Truck won't start

Truck won't start
Drove my truck to work this morning and it started and drove fine.
I shut it off to talk to someone in the parking lot and now it won't start.
When I turn the key, I just hear a little click coming from under the hood, it does not turn over at all. Its not the batteries, as the headlights are bright and all the electrical works fine.
Could it be the starter ? How do the electrical systems work on these things ?
The truck is a 2006 2500 diesel. Any suggestions or info is appreciated.

starter contacts ? although with the age of the truck, i would be suprised. its not recommended but you might try a few light tabs to the starter with a hammer or block of wood. see if that frees things up.

TIPM is tripped internally. There is a flash for this complaint & also a wiring issue related.Crawl under & look at your starter-you will see a yellow wire going to the starter sol-sometimes it rubs on the breather tube bracket & shorts the circuit-tape over & reroute, disconnect batt's to reset tipm

Thanks everyone for the responses.
I just went out and tried to start it, and it fired right up after sitting for 2 hours.
When I get home tonight, I will have to crawl under there and take a look.
I hope it's not my starter......thats a $650 part.

I believe I have found the problem. It was the yellow wire that several people mentioned.
There is a main wire harness going to the starter. In it is a big cable and a little yellow wire. The cable cover ends about 2 inches too soon and allows the yellow wire to rub against a bracket. I felt the wire and it has a deep knick in it. I am assuming this is the cause of my problems. Now I have to figure out how to fix it, as there is no space in there.

First off, wrap that area good with some electrical tape (at the very minumum).
The best thing you could do, is buy some non-conductive sealant, and coat where the wire was rubbed, to seal out moisture/air,road grit from corroding that wire. And then figure a way to prevent that harness from rubbing the bracket.
One thing I want to caution you on. Examine the abrasion carefully. Look for nicked wires or cut strands. Cut strands of the wire can be a bad thing depending on haw many strands got cut. If 1/3 or more strands are cut I recommend you replace the entire wire. There are two concerns here, wire integrity, and electrical current handling. You don't want that piece of the wire to separate at that point and leave you not able to start the truck. Also, that spot may not be able to handle as much current, it will heat up (a hot spot) somewhat, and if severe enough will create a fire hazard.
Here is a link for some non conductive sealant. This is good stuff, I have used it countless times in my job (weatherproofing connections, etc). You can find it at Wal-mart, Lowes, Home Depot, etc. LINK
Good luck.
