the truck squeeks loudly from what sounds like the drive shaft section near the axle.
the driveshaft doesnt have any play in it when i try to move it with my hand.
But in reverse it squeeks like a mother...
I just changed the rear breaks thinking they had gone bad, but nope it wasnt them!
got back under there and its coming from right where the driveshaft meets up with axle, or right inside the axle a little...
I sprayed oil on it/ in all the crevices and the squeek stopped until i applied torque or braking, then it comes back a bit but not as badly as before i applied oil.
It was squeeking anytime i was in reverse up to like 5 mph then it went away.
doesnt occur ever in forward gears.
Anyone got a clue?

Sounds like a dry u-joint, is it a sealed unit or greaseable? You may be able to take it apart and regrease but likely will need to be replaced. Once they squeak, there's wear involved.

Look at your leaf springs there are plastic wear pads by the ends. I have one that was missing the wear pad and it would squeak in drive but it was worse in reverse. Dodge replaced the whole leaf spring assembly.

I just had to have my U-joints replaced and they made the same sounds yours are, squeeking when in reverse and I also had no play. Dodge said they were shot, thanks for warranty.

so the sqeaking from wear pads in the rear springs, was thas rythmic with rpm or speed? I have a squeak that I only hear at take off or stopping and it increases/decreases very rythmicly with speed or with decelaration. If I let off the accelerator or brakes it goes away, and if I hear the squeak and coast in nuetral it goes away. It basically has to be with aceleration or braking and is very rythmic like a tape/nail on a tire but a squeak like a mouse.
