truck not running very good
I am having some problems with my truck again. I have had a problem all along and the dealer cant seem to find it, or they don't want to look. I took it in a year ago because it was missing and cutting out at low speed creeping along, such as climing up an old logging road ect. They said they could'nt reproduce the problem. It kind of went away or I learned to live with it. Now the truck seems like it is lazy down low in the rpms. If you step on it sometimes it will take off normal, other times it cuts out or has a delay and then it tries to take off. It does'nt seem to have the top end pull it had before. It has had the fuel pump replaced to an in the tank unit about a year ago. Doe's it sound like the fuel flow is cutting out? I don't have a fuel pressure gauge. Another place I am going to look is the quad box. I will try unhooking it and see what it does. I have changed the fuel filter not 100 miles ago thinking this was the culprit. Seems to be using more fuel as well, but my oil level is fine. Any ideas of where to look for the problem. The dealer does'nt want to look. If it is not kicking any codes or a pile of busted parts laying on the ground, they say they cant find anything.
thanks for your help

Do you add any diesel additives to your fuel? I had a similiar problem with rough idle and a bad hesitation from a dead stop and found out the problem was related to the new ULSD fuel. As long as I keep something like Power Service in each tank it runs absolutly perfect, miss putting it in and it will start back within a day. May not help you but it least it's something cheap and easy to try.
I had mine in to the dealers shop several times with no codes and they replaced 3 injectors and several other fuel system parts. I also tried replacing the fuel filter and it didn't help. I think the new ULSD is just to dry and needs more lubrication, this is why the additive helps.

I pulled the box this afternoon at work and tried it out. It runs stronger and smoother than with the box. As far as additives I run gray powerservice all the time. I have also been running a new additive from Gunk that is a sulfer substitute. My truck seems to like the stuff. Considering the box is acting up, maybe I can talk my wife into the smarty now.
