Trouble with codes 0514 & 0483

I keep getting these two codes constantly. Been to two different dealers and they keep on just clearing the codes because STAR says so but it will code again in a few days. Why wont they just replace sensors. Today they blamed it on my MOPAR winter front I installed the day after the truck coded the last time.

0483 is actually fan speed 0514 is battery temp sensor rationality and I could understand the fan speed maybe going off plowing but I park in the garage plug it in on timer with no codes start in the morning throws code right away

Any idea why it would trip the fan code..????? and the battery code is probably jsut a code because of the plow motor

I have no idea why they trip and apparently niether does the five star service deparments. But also these are tripping even when I dont have the plow on.

then the only other thing that draws that much juice is the grid heaters.....but they shouldn't do that......and the fan thing jsut seems odd to me......how warm does your truck run while plowing

Thats exactly how I get my p0514/CE light. 3 times already since I've begun plugging in. Last winter only once.

0514 has been a real pain!!! 4X for me in 10 months. According to DC there is no cure other than clearing codes. They claim to be working on a programming issue to fix. We'll see. I wouldn't worry too much about the 0514. Don't know about the other code.

Those 2 codes have been in my truck since I put my plow on it in 2003. Nothing to worry about at all. The fan speed code is thrown because the CPU cannot understand why the fan is need when the ambient air temp. is so cold.

0514 code

I first got the Battery code the in July 2003, it was hot that day.
Dodge reset it....2 months later....0514....reset again. then I relocated sensor and was good until Oct. 2005 a cold day. I bought another one cause warrenty was up on electrical...$ 42.79. I checked ohms on the new one, and old one...different. Meter set at 20k...new one reads : 11.82 at 70 degrees, so if it goes bad again....I'll put a resister in the connection rather than the sensor.

It doesnt seem to matter with mine cold or hot, plow or not this thing throws one of the two codes every few days. It started when the truck whas a year old. Dealer cleared it on monday started after work and threw 0514 while idling. I know it is nothing to worry about but it is obviously a bad sensor to go a year with nothing then constant since then. Oh I have had plow on since the truck was knew.

I have had both codes The dealer replaced the Battery Temp sensor and the whole fan assembly. Very nice of them even though I have the codes again. No problems with how the truck functions.

I was troubled by that pesky 0514 code and the dealer was no help. So I pulled the drivers side battery out and cleaned the tray which was caked with crud. Unhooked the sensor cleaned it ( don't lose the wavy washer that holds the sensor in contact with bottom of battery) and added a little silicone dielectric grease to the connection. It has been 8 months and code never happened again. I'm no slouch on wrenching but that little operation took time which dealer techs are pressured to " Hurry Up". Since I had this brand new tube of "Loctite Dielectric Silicone Grease" I went and cleaned/greased every electrical connection on my rig. That took 2+hours....time is money, be it the factory assembly line or the dealers garage. I noticed all the connectors on my/our rigs are first class with a o-ring seal recessed into them. Try it if you have the time and just use a little silicone on a q'tip. Don't go squeezing a glob on and jambing it together. Well I'll go unplug (27F) my pride and joy and go do it again (Work).
