I have a problem that I think I have figured out but could use some confirmation. I can only start my truck with a shot of ether, would that be the lift pump (?) or could be something else? Runs fine otherwise. 93 Cummings w/<200K miles.
Is this just a major pain to replace? My guess is about 8 hrs labor....

 

Could be many things, first, get the major stuff out of the way, Lift pump pressures? When was the FF last changed? Did you try gutting the shutofff solenoid?

Lift pump is a 30 min. job or so....

And it is Cummins.......

 

It's losing prime for some reason, most likely loose connection on a fuel fitting ot bad hose/line somewhere. Look for leaks or wet spots along the fuel lines after you shut it off.
