transmission strength

I had mine go out (granted i do tow quite a bit) with nothing more than exhaust and an intake with 85,000 miles. Basically if your buddys not ready to plop down $2500-$6000 for a new tranny I would steer clear, but as long as he knows theres a chance and accepts it (like i did) GO FOR IT

They arent designed to hold much more than stock power. Probably if your buddy is worried about how much power they will hold, its not going to hold it. But look on the bright side, ford and chevy transmissions won't handle 700hp either.

My 06 is getting ready to turn 60k, I change the fliud and filter every 20k. I have seen NO debris on the magnet. I tow frequently with this truck, the only addition to the trans is a Trans-go shift kit. One of this days ill get around to installing the new converter. I think these trans are much tougher than people give them credit for. IMO the biggest weakness in the stock trans is the torque converter and the factory valve body calibration. Put a good valve body kit and a good converter and these trans will hold much more power.
