Transmission Help
I'm looking at rebuilding my transmission on my 2004.5 Dodge Ram 3500 with the cummins and need advice on what I should do. I have a Bully dog programmer on it and a K&N cold air intake with a Banks high ran intake. And I need Info on if a 5in exhaust would be to much or should i stay with the 4in.

Get a Goerend transmission. WWW.goerend.com but call and talk to Dave first, hell of a guy. It will cost you 4K, but a Dodge will cost you 3K, and Dave will build you one that he guarantees will handle anything you throw at it.
As far as exhaust, the 4" exhaust is great (didn't they have 3.5" somewhere inline until 05 or 06?) and 5" will help you sit lower in your truck because your wallet will be thinner.
If you want to prove to yourself that 4" is good enough, cut the exhaust off and run with just the exhaust pipe after the turbo. It will be loud. But see what kind of mileage you get and run a dyno run with it. Then hook the 4" back up and see how it is. It's the same.

From: In Oroville, Ca., same house for past 46 yrs!
I rebuilt mine with the red line clutches, (thinner so you get more in the pack along with Kolene steels) in the Forward and Front drums. I only have a Banks 6-Gun with the Speed loader add on but I can put some HP to the wheels! Got 180K for miles now without any trouble the last 60K since rebuilt. I kept the 4" (stainless) from turbo outlet to the tee of my stacks then went to the 6" stainless... I had a CAT and muff as standard and when I clipped the CAT I gained about 3-4 mpg on the highway cruising! It already had a nice flowing muff so I kept it because it was so danggg loud without it I couldn't hear the stereo.
