Transmission Fluid
#2
Factory fluid is synthetic.
When the time comes, I'll stay with DC...I've heard of too many problems with old style trans going to an aftermarket fluid.
I know there are others that will say different, particularly with recent experience.

My self I have used Amsoil and had great luck with it. Also Amsoil is the only after market fluid my local dodge dealer does not complain about being use in any DC car or truck and they don't like any thing that is not morpar, so I take that to mean it must be a good tranny fluid.

I know that Amsoil has several products, which one do you use for the transmission? How much does it take? Does everyone drop the pan, change filter, fill, then disconnect the hose going to the cooler to get the balance out?

Several products? Their Universal Syn Atf is used in most all autos except a few specialty units. I take mine to a shop and use a flush machine.I only change FILTER every 60 to 90k.www.amsoil.com

Thanks for all of your help.
Filter changed, return line disconnected and 13 quarts of Vavoline +4 installed. I was told the entire system holds 14 I got most of it.
FYI I call the dealership and they only drop the pan, filter and re-fill, they also told me that they did not use synthetic and that it did not come with synthetic, not sure if they really knew.

I've been using Redline since I hit 20K km on my truck - and I immediately noticed a MPG increase, better shifting and the transmission sounded 'quieter'...
100K later (with lots of 10K towing), no issues.. I've changed the fluid 3 times since 20K (just changed it again) & used the home 'flush' method of dropping the pan, clean it out, fill with new fluid, then remove the return line from the transmission cooler, start the truck in neutral, and have someone pour in new fluid down the dip stick while catching old fluid out the removed return line...
