How disappointing. I undid the fill hole and dipped my finger in there only to find fresh fluid. I was all eager to put new fluid in. The plug was also nice and easy to remove too.
Well, I have bottles of ATF+4 on the shelf now

haha I thought about doing the steering. That fluid checked out good too! Though not a clue if it is synthetic or not. So probably worth a flush.
Oh, incidentally I did see the rear seal/boot there on the tcase tail was in real bad shape. It was cracked all the way around. It looked like dry rot like tires get. When I reached up to feel it the perforated cracks tore. Is this going to be a pain in the butt?

I checked my front dif fluid about 1 month ago it was over full and the fluid color looked like a dark 2% white milk color. Not sure how water got in there my truck has never been submerged in water even close to front dif. anyway took cover off and cleaned housing good with break clean and reasemble. I always check the rear because it does 95% off the work. I will be checking front diff more offten from now on!

I wonder if condensation plays a part inside the diff for temp changes and normal degradation of the fluid? Since many of us state that the axles weren't immersed.
