Transfer Case Fill Plug.

I went to change my Transfer Case oil the other day and before I drained it I noticed the fill plug had a large Torx head on it.

So I aborted that mission, thought I better not drain it if I can't fill it back up!

Anybody know what size this is so I can go buy an insert socket to fill it?

Thanks.

Mine just used an allen wrench for both drain and fill. Are you sure you looked at the right plug?

Mine has a hex socket head, are you sure you are looking at the right plug? The fill plug is about mid way up the back.

I think it's 17mm, but don't quote me. I used a metric bolt head with a nut welded on the end. Lots cheaper than buying the tool.

I think the NV was 17mm, and I thought the transfer case was 10mm, but I could be mistaken.

Both the xfer case and the tranny are allen heads, 17mm for tranny and 14mm for the xfer case.

Hmmm, well now I feel a bit silly...

I was under there replacing some U-joints a couple weeks ago and thought I better change t-case oil any time soon.

Remember looking up and seeing a Torx Fill plug and thinking uh oh, I don't think I have a Torx socket that big.

I'll take another look and see I guess.
