Trans Temp Issue

A couple months ago I noticed that in around town driving my trans temp was getting up to around 190 then would drop back down to around 100 degrees above outside temp when I would get back on the highway. A year ago the truck went from being a daily highway driver to sitting covered in the driveway and used about once a month for fun. I just had the fluid changed and the bands tightened about 500 miles ago. The issue I have is that Ive never seen the temp get above 180 unless im towing uphill and then it cools right back down. Is 190 around town an acceptable temp?
