These linkages are on the outside of the trans. Driver's side of the case where the cables hook up.

I would still say it sounds like a v/b problem. The only other thing i would still say is to check the pressuer in the trans at the test ports and make sure you have the correct pressuer. If you have any internal leaks it will cause nothing but problems with shifting. Good luck

It seems to be a problem with most of us 2003 HO owners. I have changed the speed sensor, pressure switch and sensor and still does it. What is strange is that it just started a few weeks ago at 93,000 miles. It is driving me crazy. I dont know where to go now. I hate to take it to the steelership .

Just don't let the problem go to far. Mine started in the high 90's a few months ago. I'm at 110k now. The problem will extend through all your gears eventually, followed by a mild vibration in the drivetrain - starting around 55mph. Now my truck vibrates so bad, even at low speeds, I'm afraid it won't make it to the end of the block before the tranny drops out. It clears up a little after 5 miles, but not a good thing to be driving.

Most of the time I can't get the truck into 3rd gear unless I can run consistantly at 2700 rpm for 5 seconds or so. Then it will shift into 3rd, but If I reduce speed at all, it will immediately drop back into second.

The severe driveline vibrations will rattle through the transfer case and destroy the seals, followed by the differentials and u-joints.

Only reason I let mine go so long is because I wasn't getting paid. I've contacted Goerend about getting the tranny redone (or replaced as it may). Just waiting to hear back from them. I'm probably looking at a conservative $7k just to get the driveline back in proper order.

Just my $.02, but get it taken care of now. It can cost you more down the road.
