Tranny problems
OK, so I have a non-dripping leak from the dust cover to the tranny. I took the cover off and it's wet inside the bell housing with tranny fluid.
Dealer says I need a new tranny fluid pump and possibly a new torque converter.
I did a search and didn't find much. What are some good brands for a converter that's only gonna see about 2% towing and 98% daily driving. Secondly I've read a little about the valve body jobs??? Don't really know much at all about this stuff, so if anybody has a good recomendation for a particular brand and phone number that would be great.
thanks for any help on this.

Just curious, how long have you had the 315 tires? How much of your driving is stop and go?
Just about any of the manufactures will have what you need. All depends on what you feel comfortable with and how deep your pockets are.

I've been running 315s for about 50K miles now. Truck has 98500 on it. I do about 70% city and 30% hwy.
Not knowing anything about the transmission leaves me not knowing what I should feel comfortable with.

Did you take the truck to them and they actually pulled the convertor? how did they come up with the fact that you converter and pump if they didn't. You might need a new "Seal" in the front pump.
I would find out more.
good luck

With that many miles, especialy with the taller tires, I would seriously consider a full rebuild, IMO.
While your at it a good TC and a VB to get the pressures up will help the city driving and mileage. If your not towing a lot or BOMBing it, a good performance rebuild should suffice. With out pulling the trans down its hard to tell what the problems are. It could just be a seal or wear in the stator support and TC that is causing the leak.
Your best bet is call ATS, DTT, Goerends, etc, and tell them what you want and get their opinions.
