Take out two screws and the filter falls in your hand.

I love it when parts guys tell you their part must be right because the book says so!!!

And I don't buy cheap filters anymore. Had a Fram disintegrate and plug the oil passages in a 460 Ford once....

ONCE......

Since I don't have such equipment, I had planned on getting a new PML transmission pan Geno's maybe for Christmas.
It has a drain plug. Will I need a new pan Gasket? I guess I might as well get the kit from Geno's as well.

When I drop the transmission pan, and the filter is there; Is it pretty easy to change? I don't want to mess up anything in the transmission.
You cant mess it up, just loosen all the bolts and then start letting one corner down and work towards the side that is tighter. Once you get them all off grab your 25 Torx and take the two torx out...easy cheesy!!

Get a big pan and put down some cardboard or newspaper!

If you want a deep pan, spend the money, if not go to Napa and get a drain plug, all it takes is a drill. Drill the hole, put some silicone between the plastic washers and done!

No problem, funny thing is when I dropped my pan I didnt realize that it required a Torx, I just happen to have one in a cheesy "bits in the handle" screwdriver I keep in the truck...

Torx 25

Thanks PSD1. Torx 25, writing this down. I appreciate it.
I will service the transmission myself when the time comes.
Filter probably goes in one way, so I shouldn't mess that up. NAPA filter. Got it.

Keep in mind some more fluid is going to run out when you pull off the filter. Not a ton, but it doesn't take much to make a mess.

Just did my 2nd change. Every thing looked good. Had a little metal on the magnet, but the fluid was still nice and clean. Now I got to go buy another quart of atf for my T-Case. Tranny tooks 6.5 quarts
