Tranny fluid change

Tranny fluid change
I have now passed 70,000 miles with my truck. 48RE tranny. I bought it with 19,000 miles on it. I have been negligent and not changed the tranny fluid and filter. It may have been changed before I bought it as the previous owner was very meticulous.
I remember reading somewhere that if you did a tranny fluid change later rather than sooner you were asking for problems. I am towing very regularly, only about 5-7K lbs. but about 600 to 1,000 miles a week. But I am in a lot of hills and I don't like gowing slow. I also use the 4WD on a regular basis.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

get it changed ASAP, your tranny will thank you later on. pulling is hard on a transmission,i would check into a VB and TC to extend the life of your tranny!
BTW you should change you tranny fluid and filter every 20k-25k.
dont forget about your other fuilds and filter, this stuff will save you money in the long run.

I figured changing it is the smart thing, I just know that I have read somewhere that guys who changed it after an extended period had tranny failure shortly after changing the fluid. Possibly due to flushing particles up through the tranny.

If you're worried about that, just drop the pan and change the filter, don't get it flushed. That's what I had done for my last trans service.
