This is the perfect thing... A Smarty Jr on SW1 will give you up to 55hp/100ftlbs at 2K rpms, with stock fueling. This will happen with a 200*+ drop in EGT's.

What was the scale reading on the TV rear axle? 10,000-lbs on a 6,000-lb drive axle?

The 11.5" AAM axle in his truck is rated for almost 11,000lbs. Dodge rates the axle at 6400 because of the tires weight rating.

He'd be hard pressed to overload the rear axle. The tires and wheels (if stock) are another story.

I run the smarty on SW1 and EGT's are more than bone stock. Had gauges installed when I firt bought the truck so I know for certain the EGT's are more.

What settings are you running? Something is wrong with your application, weather its your settings or pyro but the Smarty Jr does not increase EGT's.

x2.. AAM rates the axle at 4950kgs (10912lbs) whether its SRW or DRW.

I havent' weighed it yet but we're driving through NM as I type. I have the Nitto TG tires which are rated for 3600-ish # per tire. I'll post trailer weights when I get them.

Towing through OK with the rolling hills and a 35 MPH head wind (with gusts to 43) really destroy'd our fuel economy, progress, time, and all power was spent just trying to make forward progress. IT SUCKED MAJOR. Today is much better.

Thanks for that info on capacity . . and I would find it, where? As to tires/wheels, yes, but don't forget the spring mounts, bushings, etc that connect truck to axle.

I got the info from calling AAM..

As far as the frame, a 2500 hemi and a 3500 DRW CTD have the same frame.. The only difference on a 2500 CTD and 3500 DRW CTD is the rear springs.. The 2500 has a 4/1 2600 lb/in pack and the DRW has a 3/1 2800 lb/in pack with a 1300 lb/in set of overloads.

Okay, . . but Dodge engineered it to perform life-long at a certain weight rating. Exceeding that will, eventually, lead to deterioration, cracking, weld failure etc. Have seen it plenty of times in big trucks. More thorough inspections are needed!

Yes this is true... But Dodge already requires a longer life rating that chevy, 3x vs 2x.. .so its a pretty tough axle.

I just cut the muffler off my truck and wow what a difference. My dually feels like a sports car. As far as the noise it is loud outside when you get in the gas. But on the inside you hear a low to medium hum. I had my friend drive my truck by me and from the outside and the inside is like night and day as far as sound. I tow around 23,000 lbs and it runs cooler and just runs better. When im not towing i get 2 mpg better mileage. I wish I would have done this a couple years ago. I have another friend who kept telling me not to cut off the muffler and he heard my truck as I drove by him on the freeway and he said he got a woody. He has a dodge 2500 td and he is now gonna cut his muffler off.

Yeah same here, I did it backwards I went and had the cat removed (was worried it might be plugged, however it was pretty darn clean for 275k miles) I didnt notice anything at all, sound wasnt really any different, no gains in MPG's, however once I had the muffler removed it was night and day, just to find that THEN I was told I did it backwards...remove the muffler not the cat...lol
