Tough to start and rough idle (help)
I have a 2003.5 2500 that has a fass pump. After a 150 mile mountain trip pulling the family camper, the engine is now running very rough. This morning upon startup the engine starts but just barely. Once running the engine just chugs chugs. In terms of power.. None. It won't even backup. I push the throttle down but it does not want to excelerate (no smoke) . I replaced the fuel filter and all seems fine in terms of fuel. I have not installed a fuel pressure gauge so I do not know if I have low pressure (do you have a good installation link for an inline pressure gauge) . My fass pump has proven very reliable for the last 5 years. Anyway, any and all suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I will unplug the FCA and see if it runs any differently and will also get the codes read. I actually live in Thornton Colorado. RTillery, if I do need someone to diagnose my problem, do you know any honest mechanics. I am pretty handy, but if I need to drop some cash I want to know exactly what is bad so I can replace it. Thanks guys for your help!

I turned the Key three times and no codes "Done". I thought I figured it out when I looked at the filter, Cleaned it and still runs rough. Pulled the FCA and engine died immediately. One thing I did check, when the engine is running I measured temp of each exhaust port on exhaust manifold. the rear and the second port from the front of engine were only 165-175 deg. while the others were 230-250 deg. (using a HF lazer temp reader) Could I have some bad injectors. how does one check for defective injectors?
Thanks

pull the valve cover off. then remove the connectors off the injector. ohm them out. between 0.0 and 1.0 is good. anything else and they are bad. that only tests the electrical side of the injector.

Good news. I figured that I might as well run some injector cleaner before I take it to the shop. so I added a large dose of Diesel Kleen and within 5 minutes of running the engine was running perfect. I did switch out the pressure sensor module, because the onboard computer indicated that my rail pressure was too high, but upon installation the code dissapeared and all was fine. Thanks for all your help.
