Torque Specs Cummins or Chrysler Manual
I am getting ready to finally pull my injectors and do some other work on my 2005 5.9. I am scratching my head here regarding actual torque specs to use. For example, lets use the injector hold down bolts specs. There is a preliminary tightening sequence for the bolts. The first step says to tighten 89 in-lb in the Cummins Service Manual and Chrysler manual says 44 in-lb.
These torque specs in these manuals are not the same. My question is, "what service manual does someone follow to do the job correctly the first time?" I have no idea why Chrysler would want to change these. Someone please chime in. Thanks!

Hey Big! I figured you would pop up sooner or later. lol I was curious because the Chrysler specs seem to be half of what Cummins has on a lot of different repairs. I am not going to over analyze this and go with my gut feeling.

You should be alright as long as you don't go over the torque spec giving. Torque injector bolts evenly and keep everything clean as possible. use compressed air to clean all high pressure lines before install. Good Luck
