Please enlighten all of us on all the torques specs that do not need to be worried about, using common sense of course. Then lets get Dodge and all of their vendors to remove the requirement. Not likely to happen I would guess. My guess is you don't use one so you use Fishguy to justify your failure to do the right thing.

As for fishguy and loctite, well if you used a torque wrench you would not need to worry about loctite which is not recommended by Dodge for this application. Then there are several different loctite formulas so which one do you think we should tell Dodge to add to the manual.

Anyway if you guys want to be slackers and shade tree your truck then go a head I will take the time to do it right and use a torque wrench.
Alright, I guess my experience doesn't count then...I guess my car AND truck will be falling apart since I'm a 'SLACKER'....If a person needs to use a torque wrench for every freaking nut and bolt, that person better since no common sense is needed, just tq. it.........OH, I use rtv silicone TOO instead of gaskets in some places.........since tq. specs. have leaks, I HATE having any fluid leaking from my vehicles.....AND I don't have any....So you go ahead with your system and I'll keep mine. If you'd take the time and look in my photos, you'll see what I'm up to......and yes, I work/build/modify on my own vehicles.....AND sinse you put me in a 'slacker/shade tree' catagory...I put you in a moron catagory 'cuz you have to use a tq. wrench for everything that calls for one.

Also, you know the idiot lights some vehicles have....it's too late when those come on..
useing a tq. wrench is idiot proof, so a person doesn't keep snapping off nuts and bolts 'cuz the person is useing TOO much force to tighten items....idiot.

If all you can do is call someone names and not help all us idiots that use torque wrenches know when we do not need to use one, well I guess you win.

See, a pissing match, you won't let go will you will you?
Must be a nice view up there on your high horse...

Maybe you can tell me the proper torque for my BBQ bolts, they're ¼" I think, I'm not sure I got them just right with my red neck elbow type torque wrench, I better check them eh?

I'm done with this pissing match BTW, so go ahead, take a free shot Mr Camper man, I'll be busy re-torquing my BBQ bolts!

CamperAndy, YOU are the one who started name calling........I just pointed out the common sense tightening...a diff. cover doesn't need to be percise, if you need a tq. wrench to tighten the bolts, then go ahead....

BTW, I'm through dealing with you also......my vehicles are fine with my way of wrenching....I use a tq. wrench when needed.........I have the experience.

*Update* I changed the diffy's today -15C outside half in and hlaf out of my garage (truck doesn't fit)

For the record...... I used a torque wrench and the snug method

thanks for the help guys, I think you are both right and both methods have their place.

Now I have to start another thread because I found someting in the oil I didn't like
