Tire warranty?

Has anyone had any issues w/ their tires showing cracks after 1 year? My '05 has 30K on it & their are cracks right around the wheel on all four tires. Should I try to make a claim on it? Michelin's by the way.

my '05 i bought used and the dealer said to take it up with the tire manufacturer, they do offer a pro rated on the tread, but they stated irregular wear of my type( extreme irregular wear) could be due to other factors such as rotating, alignments etc... so back on your topic, I would say take it up with the tire man.

"rotating, alignments etc" None of the above, just thought I'd see if it was worth the effort.

My 06 mega cab had sidewall cracks with less than 3000 miles.Called the 800 # in the michelin warranty book. They told me to take the truck to the nearest michelin dealer.Tire dealer agreed that the cracks are no good. They called michelin and ordered the tires.I get a phone call 2 weeks later, tires are in....."That will be $100 tire dealer says".Michelin wanted to pro rate the tires 5% of what he tire costs new......(That isn't going to fly) I called michelin and told them they should give me the $100 for the inconvenience.I did however tell them I did not want the tires and I would wait for the cracked tires to blow out and they could pay to have the side of my truck replaced...........That went over so well they waived the $100 charge

Had my Michelins replaced under warranty at 1200 miles due to the cracks, the replacements have the cracks now too with 12,000 miles on them. To say the least I'm not impressed with Michelins.

Picked up a new dually couple weeks agowith ameritrac tires on it. had them on my 03 and actually did a pretty good job for me.
Called Discount tire and was able to put their road hazard warrenty on these tires for 19.00 each.
besides repairing or replacing the tires for ANY type damage i might encounter , it also qulifies me for free tire rotations and balancing. One tire ruined because of any type damage and the warrenty pays for itself.
Had no idea they would sell road hazard warrenty on oem tires.

I was a little cranky that day. Wish I'd a kept my mouth shut. Oh well - the damage was done.

Herb, thanks for that post. I had no idea that you could add a warranty to factory installed tires. Good to know when I buy a new truck after 500,000 miles!!! You guys had better be right about that!

Bad tires

I bought my '06 quadcab dually almost a year ago, and I can say I will never buy another Dodge product or a General tire ever again. I had four tires that started to separate with only 400 miles on them. I took it back to the dealer, who the Continental tire website listed as an authorized dealer, and they told me they couldn't find anything, that it was just the bad roads. I have a tire dealer that I trust, and he told me which tires were bad, and marked the bad spots. I took it to four more General tire dealers, and they all said they were bad, but not bad enough to replace. I went back to the dealer as a new vehicle customer instead of as a tire customer, and was told that once the vehicle left the lot, it wasn't their responsibility. I have been around and around with these people for 15,000 miles. I have filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau, and all to no avail. I finally went and bought seven 19.5 inch wheels and a set of Kelly tires from my tire guy, and he gave me a 15% discount. There is no way I am going to spend $48,000 on a new pickup, and have those kind of problems and be a repeat customer. I traded an '05 D-Max that I really liked for this pickup, and I REALLY regret that now. I never had a problem getting something done at GMC.

That sounds terrible!
I think you should give me your '06, just to ease your pain... I'll be sure to make lemonade out of it.
