I look after both 2x4 and 4x4 3rd gen Dodges and they all have cupping problems on the front tires. The only way to keep the cupping reduced is to rotate every 8-10,000 mi.I had one truck go out west for a couple of trips and didn't come back to the shop for about 14000mi,when it did the new Toyo tires that had just been put on 4 weeks before were severely cupped.I have found that rotation must happen at or before 10,000 mi.

Anyone just have the front right tire only do the feathering? Since I noticed it I cross rotate every 6000 or so. But thought it was strage just the front right would do it. Dealer told me I just make more turns in one direction than the other.
All the other locations wear great. I keep 50+ in the front.

What do you mean by feathering? Thats a different deal then was posted here about the lugs wearing different from the front side of lug in relation to rear side of lug. If you have a right front tire feathering and not the left , then I'd say your right front tire is wearing on the outside edge of the tire. This is caused from too much toe in. A small amount of ,to much toe in ,will show up on outside of right front tire first, if its excessive enough it'll show up as wear on outside edge of both front tires, right always being the worst.
Too much toe OUT will wear or feather the INSIDE edge of the left front tire first ,and if its excessive enough it will wear inside edge of both front tires with the left showing first and always the worst .
If your dealer told you thats caused from turning the truck one way more then the other, then he shouldnt even be dealing with the public. If your dealer has the facilities and your truck is under waranty go back and tell them to correct the toe seting. Its a minor adjustment. If your truck is not in waranty and you got to pay , then take it to a good alignment shop, where they know what causes this and how to corect it.

There not setting the toe right then, Just because its in specks dont fix it. You need a alignment shop that understands what causes a particular tire wear. If you got wear thats caused from to much toe in, then toe it out a hair etc.

Thank you. Great explanaton. The dealer I've had to go to is a retard. But, due to my schedule and the location of dealers I have little choice. I'll consult a few alingment shops. But I do need to hunt for a better dealer.
