Tire Drag on Rear

Guys I have a 2003 5.9 with a build date of 9/02. The build sheet says I have a 10.5" rear diff with the anti-spin. I haven't had the truck a year yet, bought it second hand. The truck has always drug one tire just slightly when leaving from a stop and turning right or left no big deal right. Well I just bought a new 5'ver and wanted to be sure the rear end was taken care of so I changed the rear fluid. Dealer says 75w-90, book says same thing so I changed it out. Since changing it though it seems like it now drags quite a bit more and more often. Did I put the right stuff in the rear end? Or do I need the modifier. I leave tomorrow for disney with wife and kids, and sure don't want any problems because of bad information.

With the AAM diff in your truck, you shouldn't need any friction modifier - it's a Torsen anti-spin, not a clutch type like the Danas have (had).

Here is what the build sheet has:

DGBS - All 4-Speed Automatic Transmissions
DGP - 4-Spd. Automatic 47RE Transmission
DHAP - Lock-Up Torque Converter
DMES - 3.73 Axle Ratio
DRWS - 10.50 Rear Axle
DSA - Anti-Spin Differential Rear Axle
ETC - 5.9L Cummins 24V Diesel Engine

Thanks for the feedback.

Made it to Disney and back, no problems, no leaks. Just seems weird though that the anti-spin kicks in alot more often after the fluid change. Maybe the previous owner put something extra in there. Looked to me like I was the first to change the fluid.

Hmmm...by chance did you replace or rotate your current tires at the same time you replaced the rear dif fluid? (I'm no expert but wonder if some other change might have brought about the increased drag(?)) What tires are on your rig? I've got a set of 1yr old Bridgestone Revos on mine and notice some drag as well...now that I think about it...I don't recall any drag while running the stock BFG's. (Though I only ran the BFG's a month when I bought my rig used since the stock BFG's had been put through hell by the previous owner).

Also, I have a 1000 mile East coast road trip coming up in June and plan on changing the rear dif fluid and rotating the tires...It will be interesting to see if the drags affected at all.

2003 STOCK DOGE RAM 2500...

55,000 and no major problems so far...knock on wood

No, nothing else was done. Tires are stock Michelins. I just wonder if perhaps the previous owner ran the additive without knowing better. I have checked with the dealer and read various post on here, everyone says it is normal. So maybe it wasn't right when I bought it. I' dunno.....
