Time for a new rear U joint.
My rear U jouint is long gone and I need to replace it ASAP. I have the extended warentee but it has a $100 deductible so I am thingking that I will just put it in myself. That way I have a greasable joint instead of the cheap factory replacment that the dealer will install. What joint is everyone putting in? Where did U get them and how much?

It's mostly personal preference....I run the NAPA u-joints with no troubles to speak of.....alot of others swear by the Spicer joints. Like I said...it's mainly personal preference.
By doing it yourself you'll be spending 30-40 bucks per joint....go price those freakin oem's at a dealership $$$

I love the greaseable ones too, but I decided to buy a whole new shaft from Dodge and drop it in. It comes complete with both joints, the shaft and the front spline, ready to go. I paid approx. $180. for it and could not pass it up. Got it from Bremerton Dodge.
This way I can slip in the new shaft (when it's time) in about ten minutes, rebuild the old one with greaseables and have it ready to go and in stock. Trouble is I still have the original joints and am at almost 200,000 miles!

Some are saying that it impossible to get the u joint out. It does not push far enough for the cap to come off. So they are having to take it to a shop, anyone have experience? I plan on doing this to my 06 4x4 auto solid shaft tommorrow.

Yup post up the one piece. I am intriged. I have one heck of a vibration that I have been blamming on the tires for a long long time and after 4 rebalances and the tire shop swearing 3 times theres nothing wrong with the tires I am ready to start pulling my hair out. I now am hoping its the Ujoint but maby its the carrier bearing. If I could eliminate both at once for a decent price that may be an option.

Go to "Doghouse Diesel Performance" call Rich he knows all the part #'s for the one piece. You have 3 part #'s Auto and two manuals G56 and NV. The money I spent on this drive shaft was the best money I have ever spent on a vehicle.
